    Target pistol jamming

i was at the range today, shooting my safe queen. She's a 7 1/4 in fluted barrel High Standard Citation. First of all , I was firing new Winchester ammo, and with her original magazine. The first mag shot flawless. After that it was a continuance of jamming on 3 rd ,6th rnd, then it was all the time after that . The bullet nose would bend itself while trying to make it to the breach. I don't know if it's magazine spring fatigue or it really didn't like the copper nose Winchester . Any help would be appreciated . Thanks . PS . Would anyone know where I can buy oem mags for my gun?

Is it possible it prefers standard velocity, the HV messing the timing of the action up?

Looks like Numrich has 'replacement' mags (Triple K?): https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufac...dard-33296.htm

I would try different ammo. Target guns can be picky, although H/S guns seem less prone to me then others. H/S guns are mag picky though. Was the mag dropped during reloading? Is the gun clean and oiled proper?
As for replacement mags..good luck..Ebay or gunbroker is about it. I think its likely a minor problem.

Don't use HV ammo in a HS.

The feed lip dimensions are critical to proper feeding. There's a gauge you can buy to get the dimensions right. I think the instructions are posted on the High standard website.

Thanks everyone for your help. Yes, I do my utmost best not to drop mags ,cause I know they damage easily, and I take care to have the gun cleaned after every shoot. I didn't know about the nose length of the HV rounds would be a problem but I will use a variety of .22 on her next shoot. Thanks Men.

If the Win ammo is the 333 bulk hp look at its flat point profile ,,, with the hp in its center... This ammo is not truly a round nose with a hp centered... I have found this ammo to be truly low grade ,,, flat profile with loose bullets.... Lots of fails to feed in my semi-autos,, with bolt guns its ok only,,, hits target hard with its flat profile .... Cheers...

I had a similar issue with my S&W model 41. Mine was ejection failures. Turned out I was not keeping the chamber as clean as I should. A tight target chamber needs to be spotless to function reliability. I am now meticulous about cleaning the chamber and bore after every range session. No issues.

Give Jack First a call on the magazines.

I hear you. The tolerances on upper scale guns won't allow for much play , either for ammo nor dirtiness . I'll get a report as soon as I can . My day was taken up with backed up sewer pipe, and to top it off was having lunch and lost a front incisor today . Well , it could be worse right ??? I"d rather be shooting !!!

My bet is the magazine! OEM magazines are frequently on ebay, they are generally expensive.

                    Target pistol jamming

+1 on the Standard Velocity only; not only can HV cause feeding issues, it beats your gun up and can crack the frame. I have a Supermatic Trophy model, and SV is all I feed it. Brownells sells the magazine adjustment tool.

These are a few things that you might want to try.

                      1) take the barrel off and clean it, drop test your ammo and if it doesn't drop into the chamber freely, try a different ammo. I use SK Standard Plus
and have no problems, a lot of other ammo will cause you grief.

                      2) magazine lips might need adjusting. Details are shown here.

once everything is running I make sure that I use the same magazine fitted to any High Standard I own, don't mix them to different pistols.

They are great guns when they run right.

                      Good Luck.

If it's Winchester Super-X then that's definitely the cause of your issues. The QC is poor and I often have failures to extract due to bulged cases. I prefer CCI Standard Velocity in target guns.
