    for Marlin 60 old timers

I have an older Marlin 60 (1987) with the ejector spring out of spec. I am considering tuning it with pliers using the nickle gauge trick I've read about. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced bending the spring weakening it. I have considered getting a new ejector spring but also thinking it would need to be tweeked as well..

Try it and see what happens.

    Nothing to lose, right?
It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.
You alone and our own have earned it with...Your sweat, blood and lives. You own it forever.

    The title is....."United States Marine".

Pretty sure replacement parts will be easy to obtain

Might as well go for it

Tweaked it. Still ejection, lifter issues.. New spring on order. That spring controls ejection, lifter and last shot hold open lever.

yea my old Marlin 60 i bought used had major jams.

i used the nickle bending trick and it helped a lot. im able to get 10 of 17 shots before it jammed again. i was using bulk Golden Bullets

i think i may need to bend it more or try some different ammo like CCI

Went to Burro last Thursday with my brother-in-law. Took the Marlin 60 tube fed, 14 shot with last shot hold open. Took a brick of Auto-match and 150 Mini-Mags. Started with the AM but had trouble with FTF and FTE. Then ran about 50 or so rounds of the MM with no problems, gun heated up then used the AM with no problems. The MM's must have loosed up the guts of the gun, don't know why but there you go. Had fun shooting MOA of head at 50 yards, 200 yard MOA of something black stuck in the berm. Only a slight wind.

I'll replace the spring tomorrow when it arrives. From Mcarbo.. I'll fully clean the assembly while disassembled and try it out once more with Mini Mags and Federal Bulk. I'll dremel just a tiny bit off the small leg of the spring on the lifter side to make sure it's not dragging slightly on the sideplate..
