I had never heard of Black Dog Machine, LLC, until mid last year when I ordered a DPMS .22 LR AR upper, and it was shipped with one of their ten rounders. I had shopped around for some additional magazines, and was surprised that I could obtain them the cheapest directly from Black Dog. My upper came with one with steel feed lips, so I ordered another steel one, and two with nylon feed lips. They had their X-Form mags on closeout, and that's what I already had, so I ordered those. I seem to recall under $10 per item.
So on my third trip shooting that gun, I was a little concerned when I saw a corner bit of plastic broken off from one of the mags. It still worked, but was tight to insert, so I used the other three mags. In inspecting them, I saw they all had some form of cracking starting, around the assembly screw locations at the top of the mag.
When I got home I went to the Black Dog website http://blackdogmachinellc.net/index.aspx
to see about ordering up replacements. I saw they were out of stock on the new style (Sonic Weld) in ten rounders, but they listed a lifetime warranty against defects in manufacturing.
I used their on-line contact form and asked that they notify me when they had the ten rounders available, and would they consider crediting me something against the purchase price. I mentioned I didn't recall dropping or banging the magazines, and I'd only briefly wiped them with down with M-Pro 7.
I quickly received an e-mail response, asking me to verify my address, and that they would then send me a shipping label, I'd return the magazines, and they'd ship me out replacements. That was more than I'd asked for, especially considering how I'd bought three of the mags from Black Dog at closeout prices (say 50% off).
I received my four new replacement mags today. It's really nice when a company honors their warranty, including covering shipping costs, even on something they sold discounted.
