    Best $250ish scope (I know)

Got some basspro cards I wanna burn through, best $250ish 22lr scope BP has to offer..... Looking for a little more magnification, 4x12 or more. Scope will go on an old 22 to take care of ground squirrels.

My current scope is a 4 power from the 50s, which I can't always differentiate between squirrels and the background. I know most of its me, scope was great when I was 10, but now I need more clarity and power.....

Unfortunately BP is overpriced & pretty limited (& best and cheap Don't go together)

    Thoughts?

Take a look at the Burris 4.5-14 Fullfield II with the ballistic plex reticle, I have one on my 17HMR and it works great for that cartridge.
Close focus is 50 yards, clear optics, 1" tube, reasonably sized scope for the magnification range.
You can find them for around $300 from the various retailers.
There's also another Burris line called the Droptine,4.5-14 which I know nothing about , it looks like similar features for around $250.

I'll have to check that out!

Right now is kinda looking like Nikon prostaff 4x12 vs the Vortex diamondback 4x12. Anyone have a suggestion?

I just picked up one of these for my new 10/22 project for $99, open box, from Amazon. Haven't mounted it yet, but looks really clear even at maximum magnification.

I don't see it on the BassPro website, but they carry the Drop Zone scope which is very similar (but overprice at BassPro). Both are side focus.

I have Muellers on some of my CZs and they are great scopes in their price range and warranty is great.

I have a Nikon pro staff on a dear riffle. Not clear enough for ground squirrels, I find my $50 binoculars clearer...

Been happy with Vortex scopes, clarity is better per dollar.

My first response to reading that was,"pffft!" (cue Bill the Cat). However, with more thought I realized I agree. .22lr is only a max 100 yard gun for target practice, probably 50 yards, and iron sights are great at that distance. Plus batteries last FOREVER with iron sights.

                    $250 buys you a leupold 2x7 rimfire.

It's less mag than you wanted, but better glass. Should help you ID those squirrels.

Iron sights make for good training and will kill a squirrel just fine

I just got this today for my CZ455 http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/produ...677ff93cb55d98

With a $20 off coupon and some SV GC's it made it much less than $299.99 I have a local store so there was no shipping cost and no tax where I live. If you order from active junky, you get 6% cash back https://www.activejunky.com/invite/162465

Mounted it a little while ago and the glass is clear. FYI, the side focus knob starts at 50 yds. I figure any pest with 50 yds. gets a break.

Looking to acquire a Marlin 336 Texan. Hit me up if you are contemplating getting rid of one.

I shot this group with a Savage 93R17 F with a Centerpoint 4 x 16 Wally World scope. 100 yards 25 rounds back to back.
Not the greatest of scopes but more money isn't always better.

Not sure what the iron sight recommendations are for, OP did ask about scopes. You dont even know if his rifle has sights (LOL)

                            Edited to add:
There is a following fir Clearidge scopes. I dont have one, but are supposed to be made in japan, similar to higher end brands.

I like Weaver V16 4-16x. A bit dim at 16x but it is an adjustable objective down to about 25 feet. There have been sales of Weavers under 300. Check Natchez.

Well I ended up ordering a Vortex Diamondback HP 4x16 V-plex sight unseen....... It was $250 which I felt was a pretty good deal. BP just had so little inventory & everything was so overpriced.

Apparently the HP has the same glass & coatings that the original Vipers came with (which I own & like) so hopefully I did ok ~ http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/...eticle/reticle

Anyone have any experience with this scope or the Diamondback HP line?
