    New Ruger 10/22 Takedown

10 days is a very very very long time to wait.

10 days = 10 days of wasting $$$$ and buying accessories.

Picked this up yesterday and installed all the parts last night. Very easy/simple rifle to work on. I had some extra goodies from my other stuff that I figured I could use on this build.

    Mods:
    Magpul X22 stock.
    Volquartsen carbon fiber barrel.
Kidd Customs 2 lb trigger drop in kit.
    Kidd Customs auto bolt release.
JWH Customs Bolt & Charging Handle.
    GG&G Bipod.
American Defense AR mount with Nightforce SHV.

Figured a few trips to the range using only this will pretty much pay for it. Spending all day at the range using .308 & .223 was getting to be a little too $$$$$$ with a growing family.

    Graduations !
They are great rifles and you've chosen some good accessories/upgrades.

I might be alone on this thinking but when I buy a new or used gun, I always take it to the range for test firing for both accuracy and reliability, then a thorough re-examination of all parts and areas when cleaning afterward in case something has changed since my cleaning and degreasing the factory grease before the range trip...

Before I go spending on top dollar accessories.

I think this is because of occasional horror story about guns leaving the factory with no quality-control and then the manufacturer trying to pass the buck and blame you, your ammunition or even your modifications for their refusal to repair the gun under warranty, even if the gun was recently purchased.

I've never heard really hear that about Ruger though, so you're probably good to go.

good point. I kept all the stock parts and can easily change it back in less than 10 minutes if something is not right. I was bored and wanted something fun to plink with. The stock ruger just didn't feel as nice as my other rifles. Now it feels nicer and the trigger is just how i like it.

You seem to be using an "AR" height mount with your scope. Are you able to get any kind of cheek weld with that thing?
So um... moon labia or something.

I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps just using rings alone on the VQ mount would lower it down an inch and give a better cheek weld.

I have the magpul stock and everything is too high for me even with low rings. Have a sketchy looking padding to make it even higher than the additional "high" comb

I have a similar set up to the OP's with the VQ barrel and my scope on low rings sits high with the Ruger stock. I manage with more of a chin hold and since it is only a 22, it is manageable that way for bench shooting.
