    Rifle rimfire matches: is a CZ455 good choice?

    Planning on getting a 17 HMR for long range hunting. But thought that maybe I would want a 22 for rimfire matches. So I thought a CZ455 combo would be a good platform with both barrels. I guess my questions are,

    Are there any rimfire rifle matches in the bay area.
    Would a CZ455 be competitive?

    Curious to know the answer to both since;

    I shoot in the Bay Area

    I own a CZ455

      What kind of rimfire matches were you interested in? If it's benchrest then maybe in a "sporter" class. This link may help you:

      ...Just as a point of reference, and way out of my league, here is a link for the benchrest setups the "Big Boys" use in the unlimited benchrest class. ~$4k plus.

        Yes out of my league as well. I grew up in the southeast and local matches were everywhere. In SF, its hard to find anything. I heard there is a club match in cupertino but not much else.

          not the bay area but if you make it over the hill to reno our club has a few rim fire matches.

          and yes the CZ455 will be competitive...they are very accurate rifles right outta the box.

            Sacramento and Richmond both have Rimfire matches on a regular basis.
            And here is a Calder Turbo complete if you want to dominate the competition.

              Richmond Rod and Gun has a rimfire benchrest match once a month, mid-month on Sunday mornings. I haven't seen one in a while, but it might be hard to be competitive with a CZ. I recall most people are shooting dedicated benchrest rigs, but you could always give it a try.

                If you want to shoot what is known as smallbore competition, which is described at this NRA link, http://competitions.nra.org/how-to-g...mpetition.aspx A CZ sporter would not be a good choice.

                  I think your best bet is to find a club that has sporter class rimfire matches. Those are factory rifles with limited modification. Your rig needs to be kept below 7 1/2 lbs in most cases.

                    Sunnyvale rod and has monthly silhouette and benchrest matches.

                    Swiss rifle club in Gonzales has monthly rimfire and Highpower silhouette rifle matches 1st sat each month I believe.

                    Theres palo alto rod and gun (PARC)private club in redwood city that has 3 position nra shooting, air rifle, bullseye, interclub shoots.
