Just purchased a CZ 455 varmint heavy barrel. I will be mounting a Leupold scope, 1" tube and 40 mm objective. Asking for input on scope rings and mounts, I heard that the bolt handle will hit the scope if the rings are not high enough. Thanks

CZ scope height questions

I use .63" height CZ 11m dovetail rings on a 44mm objective Voetex Viper scope. I have plenty of bolt clearance.Comment

Specifically which model scope? There's general ring height guidance depending on the objective, but for bolt handle clearance, the eye bell (eyepiece housing) diameter, and how it's situated relative to the bolt, becomes a critical factor.Comment

CZ altered the bolt handle design a few years back to fix the complaint
Coupled with the CZ stock high dovetail rings, the Leupold 1 inch 40mm scopes will clear no problem...except I would like to know which scope you have...specifically
My Leupold Mark AR 6x18 MOD 1 (115393) fits perfect on my CZ527 built in 2013 came with the new bend bolt handle and hi rings
The front bell is close enough to the barrel but if I spend another $150 I could drop the scope another wee bit...
CZ sells the new bend handle and the high rings if you need
Or if you're really gonna go balls out you'll need a Picatinny rail that mounts to the dovetails and a set of med rings that will put the scope down in the weeds...Last edited by ProtectThe2nd; 03-16-2017, 5:39 PM.sigpic

I'M using the Leupold RM Rimfire 11mm High rings with a Leupold VX1on my CZ455. Gives me enough height to clear the bolt and low enough to be close to the barrel.

This is what a 455 looks like with med rings on a pic rail with a 40mm scope

I have the same rifle as yours and used Warne 722M "high" rings for my Leupold VX-2 6-18x40mm AO, 1" tube. It is a perfect setup as there is about two-tenth of an inch clearance from the bull barrel and the bolt handle is perfectly concentric to the center of eyepiece tube
If you use Warne 721M rings it would bring the objective awfully close to the barrel, probably by about 1/16 of an inch. Not to mention that the bolt handle would be much closer too. I would not want this as my current setup allows me to operate the bolt comfortably however I will often get "markings" on the eyepiece tube from my finger rubbing it.Comment
