    Kimber 82 Government

Just got me a Kimber 82 government for a good deal.

Looking to put an optic on it and saw one of those 11mm dovetail to weaver/picatinny rail adapter on Amazon so I can mount a 30mm scope ring on it and use an optic.

Im also considering sanding down the stock to get rid of the dreaded "cut" marks from the military doing inventory and using a machete to open the bags.

    Can't wait to shoot it.

Any ideas on the kind of ammo to run? I'm probably going to run a barrel tuner of some sort so I could try to tune the barrel harmonics to the ammo I want to run. Was thinking CCI mini mags or something more like Wolf Match.

    Thoughts?

Visit the Kimber Forum on Rim Fire Central, lots to learn there. I use an EGW base on mine that screws to the rear barrel scope block holes, and use Warne QD rings, so I can switch between my Palma peeps and the scope. I have an Annie adapter mounted behind the rail for the Palma. A pic:

Check the crown on yours, mine was awful, and I re-crowned it with the Manson tool.

As for ammo, start out with something inexpensive like CCI SV, figure out how she shoots, and move up from there. Hyper-velocity ammo isn't what you want.
I don't mind the razor knife cut, I can't see it when I shoot anyway. Be mindful of the ejector that is part of the loading tray, it breaks very easily if you use a cleaning rod. Either use a non-rod cleaning procedure or get used to removing the loading tray before cleaning. Rimfire barrels like dirt anyway, just use a chamber brush like the Gunsmither tool to keep the chamber clean.
