I myself like the black, not brass. My friend has one, shoots anything.I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. -
Had the black model, it's not blued it's painted and scratches easily.Location: Olympic Peninsula Washington

Golden boy is too heavy. I'd rather get the basic.Comment

Taken your advice, I just Dros the basic H001 today. The trigger really surprise me. Now I have to wait for 10 days.
One more thing, do I need to field strip and oil it before bring it to the range (for 325 rds) or just shoot it right out of the box ?Comment

I've had the h001 for a couple of years now............fine little shooter!
holds plenty of ammo and accurate too.
I prefer the black better then the brass color, if the black gets to messed up, I can just give a new coat of black paint and I'm good to go!

My rule of thumb is to field strip, clean, and lube any gun that I buy before firing it. I broke this rule one time but at the very least, I ran a bore snake through the barrel before firing it.
The reason I do this is safety, first of all. There could be an obstruction in the barrel that I don't know about since I don't know where this gun has been. Old factory gunk could have been left in there all crusted up. I'm not sure, but perhaps damage the rifling too if fired in that condition?
Second, I want to know how to field strip it in case there's a malfunction at the range.
And if something does go wrong, at least I know it's not because the gun is dirty and dry.
While the gun is field stripped, I could inspect the parts for its condition - in the case of used firearms mostly.Comment

I have the Classic H001 and it has been phenomenal.
I always recommend cleaning every gun after pickup before shooting it.
I highly recommend the HiViz front sight post which has made this fine shooter even better. Comes with red/green/black/white inserts and is simple to install.
Additionally, I picked up a Speed-D-Loader and I love it. Looks kinda cheesy at the range, but it makes reloading so quick and you can easily shoot all 120 rounds in minutes.

I just shouldered the Golden Boy at Cabela's the other week and then tried to shoulder it a couple more times because I could not get the sights lined up. The guy behind the counter caught on it quickly and handed over the Classic H001 to me. Shouldered it and it is perfect. Apparently the Golden Boy buttstock is made at steeper angle which puts the sights much higher than I am used to.Comment

This...... I have a golden boy and I love everything about it except the comb height. Currently looking for a nice comb riser for it.I just shouldered the Golden Boy at Cabela's the other week and then tried to shoulder it a couple more times because I could not get the sights lined up. New toy.

Brought it to the indoor range today, shot whole Federal Automatch box.

Updated: Just shot one more box yesterday, and one box today. 975 rds went thru the tube without cleaning any without hiccup. Will clean it this weekend.Last edited by newbie1234; 03-17-2017, 10:47 PM.Comment
