See the parting line near the front?
I'm thinking the "adapter" is not permanently attached. See that "C clip" near the brass portion? I bet it all comes undone right there.

But the brass portion needs to be replaced by the collar that wraps around the dedicated upper chamber.
That collar does not appear to be separate from the front part.
The C clip looks like it only releases the chamber extension.

        How is held on? Magic?

I just want someone to show us. With pictures. Or crayon.

OK, I see it now, looking on a bigger screen at both images same time. The collars are not the same.

        I guess this...
i later bought the dedicated barrel and an upper and just needed to get the collar
...meant he needed to buy the new collar. I don't think I interpreted that correctly at first.

        Sorry, I'm slow...

        ...but steady. Except when I

I suspect the extension pushes out to the rear once the clip is removed... the brass part may as well, or it may be threaded in.
Looking inside the circle on the right, there is no part line at the edge of the collar... that is a single piece.

Yup, you're right. Sorry. I was picturing (in my minds eye) the brass part covering over that fixed area circled in red. Which kind of explains why it was boggling my mind because I couldn't imagine what/how it was held there.

I still want to see one busted all apart now.
