I just bought two Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40mm scopes for $300 shipped. I'm mounting one onto my CZ 455 and one on my dad's Savage A17. I'll report back after range day.Comment

I recently got a Nikon Prostaff II 3-9x40.
Like it so far at the indoor range, have to decide when to fight the traffic and get to Angeles for 100 yard gong noises.Originally posted by Kestryll:

I have a 2-7 Redfield on my 10-22. Excellent shooter and carries easy.Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. Robert J. Hanlon

I'm also a fan of the 3-9 magnification choice for a 22 LR. I have found that stepping up to the distances you want to shoot at, 100 and 200 yards, you might be happier using a 4-12. Nikon just happens to have the PROSTAFF 4-12 BDC on sale for under $190. I do some freelance work for Nikon but no sales at all. I just thought this might be a money saving option for you and using the BDC reticle can be a useful tool as well. At a recent event we shot steel crows at 200 yards using 10/22's and Nikon's BDC reticle. It was a blast for everyone as most folk's do not think of a 22 LR's use past 100 yards. Definitely worth chacking out and if you have any question's about using the BDC reticle drop me a note.

3x9 is a good general purpose scope, you wont go wrong.

What ever you decide, stay away from Made in China, you will not regret it. Any thing less that a NIKON will eventually disappoint. Buy something once that retains some value if you decide to upgrade later. Only decent scope I have ever had was a Mueller made in China, they are the exception. And they have a lifetime warranty.Comment

I have used .22s with cheap glass and they are a disappointment. I used a good quality Leupold on a .22 back in the late 70's and never again will I use cheap glass. I like Leupold scopes because they have a lifetime guarantee, that is passed on to those who buy them used. One of my favorite scopes for a .22 is the Leupold VX-II 3X9. You can find them on ebay for $150-200. You can buy with confidence because Leupold will repair any damage for free. You can also have Leupold adjust the parallax to any range that you select (this service will cost you).sigpicComment
