    I want a .22 pistol

I want a .22 pistol for plinking with at the range. Which of the very few available for us in komifornia is/are the best for target shooting? (paper and the little spinners)

We stopped at the gun store Friday and they had a whole bunch of brownings (with a huge range of price on those). A S&W and one other (I don't remember the who made the other).

What features do I need for a target plinker?

I have a buckmark and for plinking/target can't go wrong. Very accurate and eats most ammo. Ruger MKxx would also be a good choice, but no longer on the Commie Roster.
I have no idea why Browning makes so many models of the same gun, but all are good. Just pick the one that suits your fancy.

      I enjoy my M&P 22 and Pheonix HP22.

But I've had my eye on a buckmark lite with the 7.5" barrel.

There's the GSG 1911 CA for a little over $300. The mags are expensive, and there are a couple of parts that you may need to replace once (with better aftermarket) if you end up shooting it a a lot (recoil spring guide, firing pin); but if you ever plan on eventually getting a 45ACP, it's a good training option.

Buckmark, pick your favorite vs. budget.
          THEN, get a Ruger Mark.
If you have the money, get the Smith 41.

          Revolvers:
Smith 617 or GP 100 for full size .22 double action.
Ruger Single Ten for single action.

For what is available and on the roster you cannot do much better than a Browning Buckmark.

Consider the S&W 617 if revolvers suit your fancy. Very accurate and a hoot to shoot.

I do know if it is on CA Roster but, the Ruger Mark IV Lite looks pretty sweet. I saw it YouTube and it was really sweet shooter and easy to clean.

Ruger Mark IVs not on the roster, alas.

Buckmark is prob your best option unless you want to pay 2X the price for a Ruger

Sig Hammerli... It's an Olympic pistol and is roster exempt

                        rogervzv;

Another reason why I am glad I moved, you can get so many guns of all types in NV.

I have a Sig (GSG) 1911-22 and was disappointed with it out of the box. Frequent FTEs, very finicky with ammo, and sights are meh. That being said, I've since polished some overspray areas and narrowed down the ammo it likes. I plan to swap out some parts with more reliable CW accessories.

I've got it running very reliably with the above changes and it is a great (and highly cost effective) training tool for when I switch over to my .45 1911.

If OP is looking for quality/reliability out of the box, I couldn't recommend the GSG 1911-22. However, as a cost effective 1911 training tool it has paid for itself a few times over after some work on it.

I agree, but the cost is right if you're handy or willing to be. I have the GSG slide conversion for my Gold Cup, and only had to do a little polishing of the slide rails and it runs fine with most HV ammo. I haven't tried any standard velocity though. For the $120 I spent, it was a no brainer for adding to my collection.

I have the Buckmark and a Kimber Custom actual 22 (not a conversion). The Buckmark is amazingly accurate and the Kimber is beautiful to fire. The Kimber is expensive...$1100 plus while the Buckmark was $539. I actually think that I like the Buckmark a little bit better.
