    10/22 Price Question

I was just in a local shop and I found a 'new' 10/22 carbine for $259.00. It had the old-style mag release (button), wood stock, and the magazine had black followers instead of red. I didn't check the serial number but based on what I've found on the net that means that this particular 10/22 is at least older than 2008, and has the aluminum trigger group.

Elsewhere, it looks like the going rate for a 10/22 is around $269 unless you find a sale happening.

This seems like a really good price to me but I'm lacking in experience here, any thoughts?

We bought our carbine rifles for $199 at dick's a couple of weeks ago. We wanted the cheapest ones available since we knew we were going to customize everything anyways! (And didn't want to wait to try to find 2 via 2nd party.)

(The mag release was a little pull lever, not a button.)

Big 5 has them for $230 right now. Tempted to get one at that price unless there's a better deal right now?

Assuming you can find an FFL on your end who won't rape and pillage you for an out of state shipment, I'd get on CDNN's daily email list. They had basic 10/22's for sale a week or 2 ago for $179. I'd also keep an eye on the rimfire section on the equipment exchange on arfcom.

The aluminum trigger housing sounds nice.

Just go and buy the rifle, saving 20 or 30 buck doesn't mean anything. After you shoot at the third K of ammo the cost ammo is about equal or more than the price of the rifle.
