There are tools made specifically for cleaning the chamber, but I use a bent .243 bore brush (works better than .22) for chamber cleaning.

If it's pretty dirty (>1000 rounds), I used Kroil (a lot of folks use Hoppes #9) first, and let the solvent do it's work for a half hour or so before giving it a good scrubbing. I keep the brush in my range bag and either give it a quick scrub after 300 rounds or so, or apply the solvent before packing up, which loosens everything up by the time I get home.

Here's a pic of the tool, but the bent bore brush works the same way.
Thanks but her guns problem is the hammer when uncocked it is much harder to cock than what could be called normal.
And thus needing a good punch to cycle it well.
Apparently this is some what of a common problem with the Buckmarks which I had no idea of until after she got it and this is another reason I really like her having ammo to cycle the gun because in the event of a mis-fire ........ I have to re-rack the gun for her as she can not when the hammer is uncocked.
I'd just as soon get rid of it for one she can rack .... but you know women..... "she likes it"
Mine on the other hand is fine.

For 5 or 6 cents a round you can't beat them
Work just fine in both my 10/22 and buckmark

I guess you just need to give her yours, unless you haven't heard the old saying, "what's yours is hers and what's her's is...well her's..."

FWIW, I've shot more than 2 buckets (around 3000 rounds) recently in my Buckmark and M&P15-22 and the only issue I had is that awful "golden" paint that sticks to fingers. Maybe 1 FTF in 500 rounds. No FTE at all. I clean my guns after every range trip though.

Thunderbolts, in my experience, are much worse.

Heck no. I shoot Goldens (often out of a bucket) through all of my 8 Mark pistols, and my SR22Ps, no problem. They may be slightly dirtier than CCI rounds (but I'm not even sure about that) but Goldens are fine plinking ammo. None of my many Mark pistols or 10/22s have any problems with Goldens.

Mach 1 / speed of sound is 1125 fps. Most if the high quality subsonics are spec'd at 1080 to stay just under mach 1 with some margin for manufacturing tolerances.

Shot 300 Goldens this weekend out of two Mark III pistols. They were fine; two FTF dud rounds; no big deal.

...number one thing you can do to ensure reliable cycling in a semi-auto is to use small packaged quality brass.
This is a huge factor that is overlooked. The reason why .22lr in the trays tends to be more reliable is because the bullet doesn't rub on to the casings leaving a lead residue. The residue is what causes friction in the chamber resulting in a malfunction. However....the golden bullet is the most reliable bulk packed .22lr round I've ever used. In my experience this is because they have a coating on the bullet to prevent residue and they're loaded hot! They feel hotter than a hypervelocity .22lr like the Super-X from Winchester rated 1435 FPS(Win Super-x comes in different velocities if you didn't know that). When I sold my M&P 22 pistol, I told the buyer about this because I didn't want him to feel like I was selling him a dud. Even that pistol which is heralded as one of the most reliable .22 pistols had issues with anything that didn't meet the below listed criteria.

In summary the two biggest factors for reliable functioning in a picky .22lr firearm is good packaging and consistent powder charges. I can feel the difference in powder charge per round on all .22lr ammo in my pistol. The Aguila super extra was one of the worst as far as consistency went. Remington Golden Bullet and CCI Minimags are the most consistent and result in the least amount of malfunction. My days of buying any .22lr but these two are over. Lastly CCI minimags and Golden bullet are terrible, don't buy them, I'll save you the trouble and buy them for you.....

Just got back into .22 shooting. My 525 packs are so old, I paid $10 some years ago. Very few ftf's.
