Made my first pawn shop purchase, a Ruger 10/22 Target

I was talking to a coworker yesterday and he mentioned that a pawn shop near by had what he called a "match grade 10/22" on the rack for only $350. I said what the heck and went on by to look at it and lo and behold it was a factory 10/22 Target Stainless. It is one of the older ones with the aluminum trigger housing. It looks like it has hardly been shot. It was missing the magazine and I was able to get them down to $300 plus tax and DROS. Now the interminable wait, but that gives me time to find and optic for it.

    Nice find.
I like the wood grain and the fact that it looks clean and not beaten on.

And the subject of finding gun deals in pawn shops is a good idea for thread.

I have purchased a few guns and in a few different states but I've never found a great deal at a pawnshop, when I also had extra spending money at the same time.

it's possibly that the regular customers at those pawnshops get the best deals but it's probably the fact that most pawn shops I go into don't always have a firearm section.

Wonder if that's a growing trend or just qround the coastal cities I've lived at.

Can we have Trump make it mandatory for all pawn shops to have gun sections?

I have never had any luck looking for firearms in pawnshops.

Musical instruments here and there, but no guns.

        Congrats on a fine purchase.

          Thanks.

I've been to a couple pawn shops before and usually any firearms they have junk or things are overpriced.

I plan on sending the trigger group to Brimstone and have them do a Tier 2 package on it. I sent off another one of my triggers to them and they did an amazing job.

            Mine is just like yours.

I bought it in the late 80s or early 90s.

I've read that the older 10/22s are better than the newer ones.

I like the look of gray laminated stocks w/ stainless actions/barrels.

They complement the silvery stainless better than the brown stocks.

When I bought my 10/22 Target the gray stock wasn't available.

The stainless Ruger 10/22 w/ gray Mannlicher stock is a beautiful .22.

Occasionally there is a deal in a pawn shop. Several years ago I was in a little pawn shop in Foley Alabama and found a 10/22 from 1968 that looked like it had never been shot. It had a $200 tag on so I sat it back on the shelf. The owner told me He would make me a deal on it, $125 out the door. Long story short, it was a little dirty inside, but in perfect shape. Still have it in original condition saving it for the grandkids.

I wish pawn shops in Sonoma county carried weapons. Thats a great looking 10/22.

Nice!!! I kick myself for selling mine when I moved out of AZ. I purchased a blued version the first year they were produced. One hole groups at 50 yds with CCI std velocity, and a Bushnell 4-12 AO scope I bought at WalMart for $80. Worst mistake I ever made.

I agree with you all that the stainless looks better with the newer stock but this is how they made them in 2007. I like the looks of the spiral barrel on the blued one, but couldn't pass up this deal.

10/22 is my favorite rifle. Accurate, reliable.
