2017 will be the year of rimfire projects and my 10/22 needs TLC.

So I haven't shot my 10/22 in a year, took it out of what I supposedly thought was a dry safe to see rust spots on the feed ramps, various outer parts of the barrel. The gun also has a stripped bushing screw and the paint has started to chip.

    Questions:

    1. where can I get the receiver professionally retapped/helicoil and refinished(cerakote maybe) in LA/Fresno? Recommendations would be awesome you wonderful people!

    2. can this barrel be salvage? I only know the extent of the rust on the feed ramps and outside on the bluing. I have no idea what the inside of the barrel looks like. I am thinking of getting a bull barrel for it anyways. Also can you recommend me a chrome line barrel?

That's all I am hoping to do some more, possible get some new scope rings because there's rust there as well. Funny because nothing else I own has any sort of rust on it even stainless 1911s. Thought it might be because I religiously clean/oil my more expensive guns like said 1911s.

PS: I just ordered some industrial strength extra large Silica packets.

    What bushing is stripped?
the stock retaining screw is 12-24 which is .216, possibly retap to 1/4-20 .250
I mean really .034" difference. You will have to drill more out than that to helicoil.
Barrel rusted? I just threw away a standard barrel, They are $40 on ebay
I would strip and rattle can the receiver myself, they are easy to strip using oven cleaner.

I felt I need to take it to a gunsmith because the paint started flaking off and I need to get it cerakote anyways.
