Buckmark contour 5.5 or berretta 87 target

So looking for nice target/plinking pistol want to build a mini race gun that reliable and fun to shoot. looking for opinions on which way to go actually i kind of have my mind leaning toward the beretta 87 target but at double the price you can build a nice buckmark contour. which way should I go ? Im interested in competeing if there are any rimfire steel challenges around california..

Buy a Buckmark with a grip that you like (inexpensive entrance fee) then swap the barrel with the Tacsol Trail-Lite 5.5" Threaded Barrels and compensator permanently affixed (to make it CA legal for $25 fee) to make a great Rimfire Steel Challenge gun.

Damn o was scared of this lol.. the beretta looks and feels so good in my hand. But everyone says to go with the buckmark. Anyone know if the beretta will be legal to buy next year ? I may buy both with the beretta first.

If you like it this much then it makes total sense to buy it for yourself, regardless of others' feelings about it.
