Savage A22 Opinions Please

Thinking about getting the A22 WMR...If you have one how is it on different ammo? One youtube video said it has many "Cheap" plastic parts that look vulnerable

Is it hard to take down for a good cleaning?

I have the A17 and really like it. Been eyeballing the 22wmr version too. There are some plastic pieces on it, but the gun doesn't feel or operate cheaply. The stock is the only plastic part I'm considering replacing because it does flex a little bit. It doesn't seem to affect practical (field) accuracy, but a nice wood stock certainly wouldn't hurt. The rifle field strips easily and the hard chromed bolt is easy to clean. I wish more rimfire rifle designers had thought of that. So far its been 100% reliable, but again thats the 17hmr version.

I can't speak to this rifle specifically, but own a 93FVSS in /22 win mag. It's a great gun, but with the insane high price and general poor availability of .22 win mag I just shoot .223 all the time since it is everywhere and cheaper.

I've been waiting for the prices to normalize a little on the 22 mag, just doesn't seem to be coming back.

deadcoyote- The ammo availabilty was/is a big concern for me too, so I've been grabbing a box or two whenever I see it at decent prices even though I dont have a 22wmr rifle yet. Lately Walmart has been getting in the old style winchester super-x HP's... for $7!!! I thought it was marked incorrectly but actually had pre-panic prices.

Yeah still mulling if I should get it...it is a rimfire semi-auto that not a too weak cartridge ...tempted

I do like the semi-auto aspect as well... but I think I may go with the Henry small game carbine myself. Already have the 17hmr version, so I'd have a hard time getting the "same" rifle twice. Had the 22wmr version come out first, I'd have gotten that one though. I say go for it!

I can only speak for the A17 which for me has been nothing short of fantastic . Ive shot just about all the different brands of ammo as well. I did break it in with the Savage/CCI A17 stuff . The early ones had some issues it seems Savage did some secret adjustments and they have been much much better since. I do wish I had a better stock .

When the A17 came out I was like I'm buying it because I always want a semi auto 17. Because Remington "Correctly" had one but due to recall they discontinued pull all the model out from the market and paid everyone that had it one and returned it. But now that the A17 came out it only take the CCI-A17 only I didn't want to get it. Don't get me wrong but still can shoot other brand of 17 but I think it's more like bolt action. Still today I been thinking about it.
What about their new model the New 22Lr Version I seen someone in YouTube was making a reveiwed of it.?
