    Marlin xt22 quality/reliability?

Hey guys I'm looking for a .22 bolt action rifle and I like the xt22 but I want to know how good they are nowadays because I've heard of Marlin's quality going down the drain ever since they were bought out by Remington.

I have owned a couple in recent years and they seem good to me. Great rifles in my book. I would suggest your visit local gun store and inspect one for yourself. It might have some features that you like or dislike. Best of luck.

      YIKES! Remington bought out Marlin?

The Remington 597 .22 LR is even WORSE then the the new Ruger 10-22's.

I know, I had one. Biggest jamming, stove-piping POS on the market. I finally
      sold it cheap.

Maybe, with any luck, they will leave the Marlin .22 semi-auto rifles alone.

I have the exact rimfire rifle. Works great without issues. I am happy with it. I attached a cheap scope as well.

They're just fine. My 2013 795 is a winner. My 2016 1894 is also, I wouldn't hesitate on any Marlin these days.

Its a bolt action (based on the older Marlin 925) that uses already existing proven magazines (same ones the Marlin 795 uses).. yes they are reliable.

Claims of issues of remlins are blown out of proportion.. You are always going to hear that one complaint but never the positive about the thousands of other rifles. Just like it used to be very fashionable to talk crap on WASR's and now they are highly regarded... people love to repeat unfounded internet 2nd hand rumors..

I bought my first xt22 w/composite stock from Turners..liked it so much, I bought a wood stock version from Gallery of Guns... you cant find them on the shelves... then a year later... a $25 rebate was offered so I ordered the xt22 with the heavy barrel and the xt22 youth model w/16" barrel but short stock....figured i'd save on dros fees too! It's a blast to shoot...I also have the Savage and Ruger in bolt action... they are fun too. I parked my 795 and 10/22 when 22 ammo got scarce...

The XT modle is great to go. I just pick one up pass Oct. For my birthday and that modle is the XT22TR Tube Feed version. Since it's still hunting season for squirrel I took it out hunting and load with the 22short cci Cooper plated hp. Man I tell you the xt22tr love it, whatever I aim at it was dead on without miss.

Bolt action is pretty stiff. Craftsmanship pales in comparison to a CZ 452 for few more dollars.

                        1975 783 .22wmr w/ rare Marlin 500A 3x-7x20 scope
1971 783 .22wmr - first year of 78X series, notice front sight barrel band

very smooth and accurate.. can't speak for the remlin plastic clad stuff

I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

I looked at the stainless, tube-fed Marlin w/ laminated stock.

                          It looked pretty good.

I love my Savage Mark II FSS w/ AccuTrigger and smooth action.

I will agree with this. From what I have seen of other bolt action rifles most seem to be able to flick the bolt open/close with very little resistance. My xt22vr I have to make sure I have a good grasp with one hand while I chamber a new round.
