Dedicated AR 15 lower for rimfire.

    Hi everybody!
For those of you who assemble your own ar 15 .22lr rifle. Did you use a multi cal lower? Did you plug the buffer tube so it won't accept a centerfire upper?
It seems all lowers are listed multi or .233/5.56.
I am planning to assemble one instead of buying a smith and wesson mp 15-22.
Thanks in advance fir the replies.

My .22 lr is a CMMG .22 upper on a JD Machine multi cal lower, I use a Taccom pressure plug but that is removable.

There are no laws yet that say a rimfire AR must not be readily convertible to centerfire. This could and likely will happen in the future, if I was buying a .22 AR now I would play it safe and get a SW 15-22.

I bought a mil spec lower from Sabre Defense that is stamped Caliber: 22LR. That was 8 or 9 years ago. Don't know if anyone sells them stamped like that now.

80% milspec lower with DPMS dedicated .22lr upper.
I do have the (removable) plug in the buffer to show "lack of intent" if I should also have my other compatible (featureless) firearm with me.
The bolt/recoil spring/plug assembly in my upper makes the buffer plug redundant

I checked and the company does not exist anymore.

Maybe I will put the Taccom plug and use Loctite to make the buffer tube unusable for a centerfire rifle.

Since I have the Thordsen stock for my featureless build next year then I can use a dedicated .22lr upper on this. I still prefer to go on a standard feature ar 15 for the .22lr. I will wait and see.

One reason I marked mine "multi" is in case I get a .22w Mr upper.
