    .22 Rimfire Rifle Transfer Requirement

I have a Winchester model 61 pump rifle which was my very first firearm when I was a kid. It is more than 50 years old in excellent condition that I am considering selling. Does it need to be transferred through an FFL dealer? Hope somebody could clarify this for me. Thanks.

    Since 01-01-1991...
With some conditional exemptions, all firearms need to be transferred through a CA FFL dealer.

Because the firearm is a C&R long gun, there is an exemption to this that only applies if the buyer has a valid C&R FFL and valid COE.
^cash & carry transfer as long as the buyer has a valid C&R FFL and valid COE and records your personal information in their FFL bound book. The buyer then has 30 days to report the transfer to CA DOJ.

Thanks, that's what I thought but the DOJ rule of 50+ year old as C&R being exempt is not totally clear. I've read where other people have interpreted it to include ALL 50+ year old firearms could be exempted as C&R.

Before a couple years ago there was an exemption that C&R rifles where cash and carry in CA without an FFL03 and a COE but they changed the law. If you are reading old threads they may be talking about that it was legal before the change.

          What he said.

The exemption that allowed cash & carry of 50+ year old long guns was removed. Last day it was legally allowed was 12-31-2013.
