Are Tech Sights the best option?

I have a 10/22 takedown and I'm not a big fan of the stock open sights. I want to stick with irons. Are Tech Sights the best option or is there something else I should consider?

You can also look at Nodak Spud for the 10/22. Either will serve you well.

I like the Tech-Sights. They work well on my 10/22.

If I were to do it over again, I would also look at:
        Nodak Spud

        Skinner
Machined from Solid Bar stock, Skinner Sights offers improved function, durability, and appearance over factory sights. Specializing in Peep Sights - Aperture sights. Check out our innovative and expanding sights, optics and accessories product lines.

        Williams

Lyman and Williams make some nice target sights but you would have to drill the receiver.

I tried Williams WRGS, but they kept coming loose. I also like a taller sight.

          Tech Sights

Love my Tech Sights. Consistently hit 3" metal disks, soda cans, tennis balls etc at 100 yards (from a rest).

I like the Williams Ace In The Hole. Very accurate low profile peep sight and a rail if you want optics mounted.

I see Skinner mounts the rear sight on the barrel section rather than the receiver. Do people have problems with receiver mounted rear sights on Takedowns?

I have Tech Sights on my Ruger 10/22 and on my Marlin 60's they are great.

That's an interesting question. It would make sense that taking down the barrel and putting it back on could affect the the zero of the rifle if the rear sight is mounted on the receiver.

However, the same could happen with a receiver mounted scope, which how 99% of scopes are mounted on 10/22's.

It seems to lock up pretty well but I'm sure there's some change... I guess I could mount a scope to the receiver, zero it, and try taking it apart and then putting it back together and shooting another group to see if zero changed.

I guess it's also possible that the barrel would rotate a little bit but stay pointed in the exact same direction, which would be a problem if the front sight is mounted there and the rear sight is mounted on the receiver but wouldn't be a problem with a scope.

Learn how to shoot a sighter and adjust.

Assembling a take-down rifle just becomes one more factor in the environment, along with distance, wind, temperature, lighting, ammunition variation, target size variation, and how you're body's doing on that particular day... it's not really a problem.

Regarding sight height, it looks like all of them are taller than the factory sights (since none use the factory front sight)... are some not tall enough for you?

I like the taller height of the Tech Sights. In the short carbine with factory sight, when I get a decent cheek weld/turkey-neck, I find the factory Ruger sight and some like the Williams WRGS to be very short.
