Look at the RUGER RAR .22LR w/ Tech-sights aperture sights.

I have an 18" compact, w/ the Tech-sights, like the one in this vid.

Been seeing a lot of Federal Match Grade and Winchester Super X and Hyper Speed - even some Remington Thunderbolts on some sites for ammo?

What is the CCI .22LR round I should be checking out?
      I see some for .20 a round?

Do not want to break the bank - but .10 cents a round is better then shooting 5.56 rounds.

I am familiar with SGAmmo and Freedom Munitions - any other suggestions for bulk ammo or decent prices and selection?

      Thanks in advance.

OK - went all in on the Marlin 795 - picked up some factory magazines and ordered the recommended Appleseed items - GI sling and Tech-Sights.

Looking now to see if I can find some ammo online at a decent price - the shelves were bare at the local sporting goods store.

Thanks again for all the info and recommendations.

A couple people I know got Savage bolt actions over the last couple years; those single stacks mags are working well.
I don't doubt that your Dad's 60 year old magazines are well made and work, but I think the OP was looking at recent manufacture rifles. The two guys near me at the last AS I attended had 795s and mag problems (dust seemed to cause the followers to jam up at times). Flush mount provides more options for support hand placement--especially if you are small framed or have short arms. Anyway, looks like the OP got a rifle and is ready to shoot which is the most important thing.

That link should default to 22lr listings, if not, click on the "22LR" link at that page.

With the election coming up, if I were you I'd buy a case or two _today_.
