    Marlin 50th Anniversary Model 60

I didn't find anything using the search button. I'd like to know if anybody has one of these and how they like it. I'm a big fan of wood stocks.
I have a 10/22, my son and I enjoy shooting it but I'd rather have a gun that's tube fed over using mags. I've read good things about the model 60.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

What do you want to know? The Model 60 has been made for longer then the Ruger 10/22 with double as many made. It is the true American 22 rifle. The 50th came out in 2010..

The Marlin 795 its magazine fed version has a huge following here on CGN.

Sorry brother, I guess I really didn't ask a question

I see that one of the descriptions for the Marlin says it has a bolt hold back when the tube is empty. I'd like to know how that works for users, mainly does it work the way its supposed to. This is one of the things I don't like about the 10/22.

How well do the sights hold up and should they be changed? If so, what are my options?

Also, how do you like the model 60 compared to the 10/22, reliability wise?

oh yeah ! other then the gold bling and walnut stock (it looks like walnut) are there any other upgrades on the 50th Anniversary Model compared to the standard model 60?

Yes the LSHO actually works great on the 60/795. There is actually 2 ways to lock back a Marlin bolt. With the LSHO and also by manually pulling back the bolt and pushing in the bolt handle. BTW these two work totally independently and not together at all..

Sights will hold up fine.. but they are nothing fancy... You can get williams firesights or techsights for them.

IMO they are more reliable and more accurate out of the box then a 10/22.
If you want customization then go with the 10/22. (not to say there is not aftermarket support for Marlin there is.. but not as much) If you want a good rifle that you don't have to tinker with then the 60 fits the bill. There are 11+ million Marlin 60 out there and I would wager a lot of them have never even been cleaned and they just keep working.

        50th Anniversary:
        Gold Trigger
Gold inlay anniversary engraving and barrel info
        Special serial number series
        Walnut stock
I read somewhere that they have "semi-buckhorn folding rear sight with a ramp front sight with hood" So they might have slightly upgraded sights over a normal 60

        I'd go for it!

BTW check out my thread on the Marlin 795.. most of the info can be applied to the 60

Its a nice gun, I was shocked at how well built it is and how nice the wood looks. I went to Turners last night and got one on sale.

          Thanks man

Did you really get it, or do you have to go back and get it.

I've been thinking about a model 60 for years. I was either going to get a Maverick 88 or a model 60. I went to Big5, looked at the Maverick, then to Turners

The Maverick can wait, I've got plenty of shotguns, you can never have too many 22 rifles

Chaos47, are the 795 mags easier\harder\same to load then the rotary mags for the 10/22?

I did a quick search on the 795. Does marlin make them with a wood stock?

No they don't make it in factory wood. Its predecessor the 70 they did make in wood. It used to be you could find 70's NOS stocks on Numrich and upgrade it. Boyds makes 795 stocks that are really nice.. I have 2.

It looks like Numrich does have 70 stocks still (they might require a tiny bit of chiseling to extend the trigger guard area to the magazine guard area... at a period they where 2 parts instead of the 1 peice trigger guard currently made. Not sure what these ones are made for so they could be gtg)

The springs on the 795 magazine are really strong till they break in a bit. A MagLula loader in the size of BabyUpLula is a huge help.

I was looking at some older marlin's last night. The model 49 looks like a nice one to look for

Not a 50th anniversary Model 60, but I am partial to the stainless version. Mounted a Leupold 4-12x40 scope. Shoots like a dream at 75+ yards.
