How many own a 9422? Is it a tack driver?

    Mine sure is.
Even the old reviews mentioned the accuracy.

    I can confirm that.

Just bought a NIB 2001 producton 9422 XTR. Will let ya know! My most accurate lever action is my Browning Bl22. The best action is my Henry Golden Boy. The best sights and quality is my Marlin Limited Cowboy II (but trigger is horrible).

I bought a Winchester 1894 in 30/30 that was surprisingly accurate. Paid $79 for it in 1976 at Woolworths, yes they sold guns there then, and you walked out the door with it after paying for it. For 22LR I went with a Marlin 39 octagon with the 24" barrel - it's very accurate and a good trigger. But I always felt the 1894 looked better/true to history.

I have a pair of the 94/22 XTR's, made in the early 80's.

Not sure if I'd call them tack drivers....... but they are very, very accurate. Easily "minute of pine cone" off-hand at 50 yards. Excellent shooters, well made and very nicely finished. Plus - a a whole lot of fun to shoot, and the kids LOVE them.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Mine is a 94/22 XTR with Burris 6x scope. My groups at 50 yards with target 22 ammo are sub 1/2". And, that is a full tube of ammo, around 13-14 rounds. Don't remember exactly. I just fill it up and shoot.

Action is super smooth and trigger is right at 4 lbs.

My favorite thing to do is load it up with Agulia Super Colibri 22 ammo. There is no powder, just primer. About as quiet as you can get. The only thing you can hear is the hammer sound. I shoot in my backyard. Kill the crap out of the crows who eat my cherries from the cherry tree. And, the local cats that poop in my flower beds.

              Does it get any better?

Mine is 38 yrs old and still shoots that same today as the day I received it. Very accurate with good ammo.
                Still a favorite.👍

Sent using 2 cans and a long string.

Don't overlook a Marlin 39. Annie Oakley thought they were tack drivers.

I have the short "Mountie" version. hella fun.

My 94/22 has acquired a few character marks over the years, but the action is butter smooth, and I think it shoots just as good, or better these days.

Back in 1974, or was it 75, my Dad took me and my older brother to the store to look at guns. My brother picked out a Remington 552 Speedmaster and I picked the Winchester 94/22 XTR without checkering. I wanted to be a cowboy back then. To our surprise Dad bought the rifles.
I still have mine and have shot thousands of rounds through it. It has spent more time in the safe then at the range the past few years. It used to be my favorite squirrel gun.

                        I bought a new Marlin 39A around 1980.
Still the most accurate 22 rifle I've owned.

Actually my most accurate is my Browning BL22.

The Smoothest action out of the box is my Henry Golden Boy.

The best handling for longer distance shooting (I added a tang sight and Beech Front Sight) is my Marlin Cowboy II Limited.

The Winchester 9422 XTR is still NIB. I'll let ya know how it does...

I have the 9422M, and it outshoots most .22 mags until you get into the Cooper, etc price range. It certainly outshoots my Marlin 882 or my old Mossberg .22 mag. as well as my friend's Savage.

I have one and a Marlin 39a. I use a hammer for tacks. Flys, that is a different matter.
