Ruger Single Six because you can shoot both .22 LR and Magnum by just switching out the cylinders.

If you can find a mom & pop LGS who take consignments see if you can find an older High-Standard. They made several models but all are pretty darned good shooters. Supermatic, Victor, Citation, Trophy....

EXCELLENT choice, and EXCELLENT target gun.

But not what I would consider "affordable", depending on the OP's (as yet undisclosed) budget. These guns are getting close to $1,000 for a nice copy.

Another vote for an used High Standard for AFFORDABLE and 22LR TARGET pistol.

to me under $500 is affordable. While awesome guns, the High standards, model 41s and Ruger MKIIs are NOT affordable. I think the buckmark will fit the bill.
