Help Needed - Tac Sol AR-22 Upper Fitment Issue

Bought a Tactical Solution AR-22 upper for my dedicated 22LR, when I tried to mate it to my new lower, the pivot pin went in smoothly but the take-down pin would not go through.... I tried 3 different lowers (Colt, POF and Spikes) and all the same - take-down pin would not go through completely.

Q1: Has anyone with SolTac AR-22 upper experienced similar issue?
Q2: What is the DIY corrective action?
Q3: Time to break out my Dremel tool?

    Please advise, thanks in advance!

    Pics may help.
Is there an up/down alignment issue or front back issue?

I think that TacSol discontinued these because they were too problematic. TacSol prefers to make parts for your Ruger 10-22 and Buckmark Pistols.

TacSol uses an aluminum AR upper receiver that is probably interchangeable with any other brand of stripped upper. If you are inclined then you could take the barrel and such off the TacSol unit and put it together on a different upper receiver.

Anyways, my TacSol 22 AR upper (flat top with fixed A2 front sight post) would not mount to some of my lowers because the width of the protruding front lug (that the takedown pin hole is in) was a little wide. It works fine though on my YHM lower.
I only had Spikes tactical and BCM lowers otherwise. Also the TacSol upper would not mount with a tactical Wedge in place.

Will you take down pins (or standard takedown pins) go through the upper receiver holes without a problem. If these do not pass easily then the holes may need opened up on one side or the other

Anyways, if your Tacsol upper does in fact use a standard AR upper receiver then I say, use a round file to elongate the hole in the direction you need to get to get it to go together. Remove just enough material so that the fit is still pretty tight. Change the upper receiver holes, not the lower receiver holes.

        Thanks Brain!

I believe it's a forward/aft issue because after I posted the thread, I tried inserting the take-down pin first then the pivot pin. This time the take-down pin would go in but not the pivot pin... It's just a tad off, I am very tempted to just force the pin through for an ultra tight fit, then use pin punch to disengage the pin if I need to break the rifle down for cleaning maintenance. Probably not a smart move though...

My TacSol is also a flat top with fixed A2 front sight post. I bought this used from another Calgunner but I don't remember which Calgunner. I think he shot about 1,000 rounds.

Maybe try a brass pistol brush in a drill an open up a bit. Works great for painted uppers.
