scoped bolt action sporters - accuracy results

I had a long afternoon off so generated some data that I was always curious about. 5 shot groups at 50 yards off sandbags with scoped bolt action sporters with different ammo. The CZ was clear 'winner' based on these results. YMMV

Here are results off a sandbag for my CZ 455 Trainer with much maligned Remington Thunderbolt ammo (40 gr, LRN) at 100 yds using 3-9x32mm scope zeroed at 50 yds. The wind was about 5-7 mph from left to right. Given the conditions, POI is as expected relative to the bulls eye - low and to the right. Note that all shots, fired using a CZ single shot adapter, are within a 2" area. Bottom line: 2 MOA with bulk ammo. I'm a happy camper.

How you did it and the sequence is relevant. For one example, shooting CCI Standard with it's very waxy lube and then shooting anything else, without cleaning, will ususally skew the second group badly. There are many other factors too numerous to include.

It is great to see such comparisons but a little more info helps filter the results.

I put a couple rounds down the tube of the next ammo to be tested before the 5 shot group. There was no 'cleaning' between groups. In fact, I rarely clean the bores of my 22 rimfires. Sorry, but nothing more scientific than that.
