What to look for regarding a 94/22

I have a good friend who is thinking about selling a few guns, he's not a gun person, he inherited about half a dozen guns 20 or so years ago.
I'm not familiar with the Winchesters at all.

This guy is a dear friend and I want to be fare with him. He's also 6'4" and 300 pounds.

He also has a Ruger Blackhawk .357, I did see a picture of this one about 5-8 years ago, at that time I didn't know what a 3 screw Blackhawk was, but that's another story. I asked him to bring both guns to me so I could at least clean them and give him a value.

I know the pre 1964 model 94's (not rimfire) bring a better price then the post 64's. Is there any particular year\s that would be priced better then another year regarding the 94/22LR?

    Thanks for your input

Basically there are 2 flavors, plain ones and fancy "XTR" models. XTR'S typically sell in the $800 and up range in excellent condition.

Prices are going up almost daily on these, so I'd suggest you close the deal sooner than later.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!
