    My, Boy's, first rifle!!!!

Don't post much, but I'm excited. On Saturday we found out we're having a boy, so I had to get him his first rifle. Right after leaving the Dr's we went to the local gun shop and picked up (well, yea know the whole 10 day thing), a Crickett .22lr rifle. Been waiting to find out if we had a boy or girl to determine color. We ended up with the red, white, blue laminated stock. I know that's pretty much neutral, but It was just after the 4th; and during these times it seemed right.

I'm rely excited to pick it up. I've heard good things about these little rifles.

I'll shoot a few out of it to make sure it's good to go and functions. Other than that, it's the boys!

    Big Congratulations to you both!

I usually don't like colored stocks on a bolt action rifle but I have to say that's a handsome looking rifle. It almost reminds me of a very small Olympic competition rifle.
I've also heard great things about them. A bolt action single shot will make the .22 fun last longer.

We're going to want to range report, make sure it's relatively accurate.

But did you do this just so you can get a new rifle?

    just joking.

Thanks! I think he'll really like the "flashiness" of the red, white, blue, while being a subtle reminder of our patriotic roots.

I'll definitely give a range report. I want to make sure it shoots straight and functions. One could say he'll receive it as if it came from the calguns classified, "only 50 rounds through it".

Lol. I did do all this to, in the end, buy another rifle, for my boy!! Already can't wait to pick him up a youth shotgun. And I think this is the first time I ever been excited about doing another hunters safety class.

And don't think guns are it. I'm big into fishing with my brother, and his wife is due 4 months before us. So, we'll be teaching the boys to shoot, fish, camp, and go Jeeping.

First off, congrats on your new family member. Now, not to burst your bubble but, just because you enjoy firearms and shooting, there's no guarantee that your child will. Case in point--I have a friend who is in his 80's and his son has has no interest whatsoever in firearms. Over the past dozen years my personal collection has grown by about 20 pieces due to his son's lack of interest. I'm just sayin........

Great starting gun! Beware though, they can be as addicting to adults as a Red Ryder - before you know it you might claim it and buy another

                            Congrats

I have trained my two kids with that exact rifle. I thought about selling it the other day since they have grown out of it but just too many great memories.
