    CZ 455 Barrel switch question

    Hi Everyone:

I can't find any answer to this in the literature and was wondering if anyone could help.

I have a 455 Lux in .22LR, and I want to buy the .22WMR barrel. Do I need to get the Lux WMR barrel, or can I get the American WMR barrel? I would be using the scope more frequently for the WMR cartridge so I don't really need the iron sights.

    Thanks for any info.

You need a lux profile barrel, I believe the American is slightly thicker.

Edit: My mistake, I was thinking of the varmint model. This is a good question.

Ok, I just called CZ and spoke with Derrick at the sales extension. He said that with the 455, the barrels will be identical in profile, but the Lux will have iron sights. Just wanted to report back in case this helps someone else out in the future.

Thanks for the research, I plan on adding a couple barrels to my 455 trainer in the future and it's good to know I don't need the iron sighted lux barrels.

Most any of the barrels will interchange except for the varmint barrel. The most you would have to do is sand the barrel channel out a little to get any of them to fit. The varmint barrel on the 455 is .866 if I recall and the rest are much smaller.

Is there any real benefit of the heavier barrels on these rimfire rifles? I can't imagine harmonics could be much of an issue with how little they recoil. I couldn't imagine heat build being much of an issue either given they are bolt action and who has enough mags with these rifles given the cost?
