Red Dot for S&W 41 perf. Cntr.

I posted this under "optics" as well but does anyone have a recommendation? The S&W performance center has a dedicated top rail AND a raised front sight. Getting the "best" red dot may not be as important as getting the one best-suited to the gun.

    Ultradot MatchDot II.

    It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

My S&W P C 41 is just about 2 months old. I average 200 rounds a week. A fantastic gun. Click on the link and check out Leupold. This is the red dot I choose to use. Very pleased. Not cheap, but neither was the gun.

Easy install, and it fits the gun perfectly.

I shoot at Oak Tree just about every Thursday afternoon. If you are anywhere close, stop by and take a few shots and see what you think.

i like the dr optic (owl logo) ive seen it on a 1911, cz 75 and glock 17 & 21.

cant go wrong with leupold either. all depends on budget and purpose. remember install costs and mounts etc, good luck.

        I mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57

Thank you for the reply. Of the three models linked which did you get? The Pro? Does it come ready to mount on the top rail?

I have the 41 in Jail. Can't wait. I only live in Hermosa Beach so I will try to get out to Oak Tree some Thursday but I will probably need to decide on a red dot first.

Yes, Delta Point Pro. It does require a separate mounting kit. Optics Planet will sell just the sight or bundle it with the correct cross slot mount kit. You will also need to decide what size dot you want 2.5 MOA or 7.5 MOA.

While you have your check book out, you may want to get a couple extra magazines, the gun comes with two, I routinely use 4 on the range.

I ended up with the 7.5, and frankly I am a bit conflicted about my decision. Given the maximum range I shoot with the 41 is 25 yards, the 7.5 is just a bit over 1.8 inches on the target, which is fine for bulls eye targets and the 2.5 would be .62 inches. Either would work well for slow or timed fired events.

If I was installing a red dot on a precision rifle that I intended to use at 100 plus yards, I would certainly go with the 2.5. Likewise, if I had need of a red dot on a med range rapid fire “combat” rifle or handgun I would definitely go with the 7.5, for faster target acquisition.

Lastly, given that the 2.5 is a round dot, and the 7.5 is a triangle I choose the 7.5 because if I ever decided to install it on a long range rifle I could use the tip of the triangle as a precision aiming point.

While it works well for me, I do shoot a Zev custom Glock 34 with the 2.5 and I am very pleased with the 2.5 on that gun.

So, does this help or just confuse the issue.

The offer still stands, come out to Oak Tree and see for yourself.
