I picked up a new GP100 .22LR 10-shot revolver yesterday. There are some minor tool-marks here and there (e.g., around the crown), but overall nice looking.
Dry fired it some -- the trigger literally squeaked in DA! I measured the DA trigger pull weight at over 12 pounds (the limit of the Lyman Digital Trigger Pull Gauge), and the SA trigger pull at 5 lbs, 13.5 oz (average of 5 pulls).
So I lubricated the internal points that I could reach with a needle oiler (Weapon Shield Oil) without a total tear-down, polished the hammer spring strut, and replaced the hammer spring with a 10 lb Wolff spring (reliability of ignition to be tested). The DA trigger pull is now 11 lbs even, and the SA trigger pull is 4 lbs, 13.4 oz -- and no more squeaking! [For reference, for my GP100 .357mag, the average DA is 8 lbs, 6.0 oz, and the average SA is 3 lbs, 6.3 oz. with a 10 lb Wolff hammer spring -- the SA is essentially the same as my Blackhawks and Single Six.]
Also replaced the rear sight blade with a Warren One-Hole sight blade (larger of the 2 provided apertures), which I find works well with a fiber optic front sight (same setup I have on my GP100 .357mag).
Next up: the range, with one of these Speed Beez speed loaders and loading block cases in tow:
