    10/22 Collectors 2nd Edition - Sights

I'm interested in the 10/22 Collectors 2nd Edition

I have Tech Sights on my other 22's and really like them. I see the Collector's series has a rail installed and the factory peep sight...How difficult would it be to replace with Tech Sights? Would it be the 10/22 Tech Sight or the Mini 14 Tech Sight?

    Curious if anyone's done this.

    Thanks!

Well ya made me look! I have one of those new type bbls on one of my 10/22's and have been thinking about just that, the Ruger peep isn't too easily adjusted. I have a new Tech Sight set for my Mini 14 so all it takes is a 3/32 allen wrench to change it. The Tech sight mounting screw is a smaller diameter than the Ruger so you'll have to use the ruger mounting screw. Seats just fine in the 10/22 and using a laser boresghter to see if it lines up with the front sight blade it seems to be just fine. It does sit back a little farther from the end of the rail but then there isn't any recoil anyway. Maybe a little blue Loctite and you'd be GTG. The 10/22 Tech would sit too high on the rail to line up with the front blade, ask me how I know. Now I have buy another set of Techies for my Mini! Grrrrrrrrr.

        Easily. Use 10/22 sights.

        For reference, we're talking:

There are 4 screws in the top so I assume so you would need the filler screws to plug the holes.

Have to remove the rail to use the 10/22 sights. The Mini 14 sights mount to the back of the rail. Just depends if he wants to keep the rail for optics or not.

Actually I think I DID try the Techsights on top of the receiver before I put the rail on and they were too tall for the front blade, I couldn't drop the elevation far enough. I sold the 10/22 Techies to another Calgunner so can't do the comparison again.

Ok thanks. I really like the collectors stock and that it has sling studs. Looking to use it for Appleseed and to have a second 22 for the wife when we go to the range. Just wanted to swap out for tech sights.

I don't necessarily need the rail I guess, so I could remove it but it sounds like I would need to find filler screws?

Thanks so much, You guys are great by the way!

Right. I hadn't even thought of the way you proposed. That's cool if it works that way too. I can't confirm that though.

The stock rail and sight come off. The receiver is the same as any other stock 10/22. Tech sight rears will mount no prob. The stock front sight probably needs to be changed to tech sights in that case, which would be the same with any swap.

You're correct using the 10/22 Techies the front sight needs to be changed. So no real point in getting the barrel with the GI looking front sight and rail. The Mini Techsites mount on the rear of the rail
                  Not on the receiver.

                    Thanks again guys!

readysetgo, that's the combo I'm considering.

Looking for a good Appleseed setup. This stock has the studs already and seems like a good deal on sale.

I'm kind of leaning towards removing the rail for now and using 10/22 Techies.

If I went with the Mini 14 Techies, would the rear sight be hanging too far off, and risk damage?

How difficult would it be to find filler screws?

You don't have to remove the rail. MINI200 tech sights work perfectly.

I have a new collector series 10-22 with the mini 14 style sights it came with. I decided this Saturday to remove the scope I was going to use and see how well I could do on the Appleseed course. I managed to pull a 157 which means I'm still a cook but I was steadily improving as the weekend...

Thanks, PeteBa. Is the rear sight completely secure? I can't tell if it looks like it might shift left or right with the rear half hanging off like that.

Thanks for posting the pics thought I was going to have to dig mine out again

The filler screws can be ordered from Ruger if needed

Nate the Mini Techsites seem firmly secure as shown and don't shift
At least on mine they don't move. I'd snug them down with blue loctite
So you don't over tighten an strip the screw threads
