Do you count the rounds in your .22 value packs?

I don't live in or even near a large town so once every week or two I drive in for various supplies.
Twenty plus miles is a Walmart which is usually my first gathering stop as it is the closest to me.
I first go directly to the ammo case looking for a deal on my various caliber stock up requirements and low and behold, there sits one box of .22 Remington 525 Golden Bullet Value Pack on the shelf. I find the clerk, a new sporting goods employee who extracts the box from the locked case and we proceed with the check out.
I ask, "How many of these 525 boxes were currently stocked here?"
Clerk: "I found two 525 boxes under the counter where we don't usually place any over stock so I put them out for sale this morning".
    End of story:
Finished my town shopping, got home and in further examination of the box of 525 Golden Bullets, it looked like it might have been tampered with as the double lid tabs looked a bit worn as in opening/closing but that is pure speculation on my behalf as there were no glue seals to find fault with.
    The count:
525 on the box but the actual count was 558. 33 rounds extra.....??
Do you count your bulk packs? Should you start counting?

No, but FYI we have noticed that the 9MM Winchester 100 round value packs can be of + or - a few. We only know this because one of our training courses is exactly 200 rounds and they are the ones most likely to be over or under at the end.

It would be faster to use weight than count them. take the weight of ten then the whole box then do the math. Provided you have a postal scale handy.

I remember a thread about a CGer who was pissed at LAX because he only had 998 rounds in his 1k bulk pack, and they wouldn't make it right after he gave them too much aggravation.

OP, never ever have I counted ammo in a bulk pack.

No, I don't count. I have counted 100pks before back when WWB was loose packed. I wouldn't bother now.

Unless it's in a sorted tray then no. I do count how many times I use my mags when I shoot to keep up with the round count.

I don't think so. My revolver doesn't care.

I was one egg short from 18 that I bought from Costco the other day. Didn't open and look while at Costco. So no, I don't count.

No, and neither does the mfg.

I'm sure they would use counting scales using an average piece weight to fill bulk packs. If there's a slight variance in the APW (always is) it gives you a +/- range.

I sell fasteners for a living, and we bag most of our parts 1,000/per using these scales, and we usually throw in a few extra to make sure the +/- is a +.

For those few customers who have the time to actually count the thousand parts in our bag(s) that cost a penny apiece.

No, but you've got my OCD going now, so I'll count one box just to get it off of my mind now (thanks, nickel plate) and see if I am a + or a -. Yeah, yeah... probably a "-," but I'm talking about the round count. I won't complain if the box is short.

This is only the second time I have counted bulk ammo and just for the reason that the two box flaps looked tampered with.
Thirty-three extra rounds from a factory scale production line can't be the answer for this amount of overage.
Possible store employee skimming bulk boxes for one reason or another?
The first time I counted bulk ammo was my first sizeable order of .38 and 9mm from Freedom Munitions and they were spot on.

I think you should do the right thing and send the extra 33 rounds back to Remington.
