I am looking for a scope base mount for Ruger 10/22.

I am looking for a scope base for a Ruger 10/22. I would like one that fits the standard center-fire rifle scope rings (7/8"?), not the tiny 22LR rings(3/8"?).

I think Leupold has one that will work: #56506. This one looks like I may be able to use the stock iron sights if the rings are not mounted. Does anyone know if this is true?

I have seen some on the Weaver Optics website, but I do not know if they are for the large or small width rings. They also look like they may be cut to accept either scope rings.

I'd use either the weaver base and some Leupold rings, or even better get a set of Talley mounts.

I can't comment on the sight portion, but I do have a leupold base on one of my 10/22's. However if this is a new rifle you just bought, use the rail section that came in the box with the rifle, it fits the full size rifle rings that mount on a weaver style base.

look at weigand 10/22 base and weigand 10/22 tactical picatinny scopemount.
also there's tactical precision systems R.A.M. 1022 accessory mount. Volquartsen has some items too. There's other types risers avail too.

Actually the factory ruger base is pretty terrible. It's also not the same width as a standard weaver style ring. A good base is like $10 and we'll worth the price.

Where are you located? I think I have an extra one that is a ruger oem rail. If I can find it and you want it it's yours. The only thing is, if your receiver is drilled and tapped.

                I am in Northern California.

My receiver is drilled for the factory narrow (3/8") rail that came with the gun. I just want the larger/wider Weaver/Picatiny because I want to mount a Redfield Revolution scope and I don't trust the narrow mount. I also already have rings for the wider base.

Hmm, the two 10/22's that I have both have scopes mounted on them, I'll have to try swapping the scopes to see if the bases are the same size. But if I remember correctly, the rings on both of them are not rimfire rings, they are the regular warne rifle rings. One base is ruger and the other one is leupold. I'll break open the safe and try it tonight.

Here use one of these with your choice of weaver style rings. Its a super nice mount and its way cheap. The Ruger mounts are a tad more narrow that most all weaver style rings.

                      (If anyone is interested)

I finally bought a Leupold 56506 rail/base. With the scope removed, you can see/use the stock iron sights.

Yep, OEM one's are junk. UTG Pro rail is awesome. Very good quality and has that nice half-moon cut in the middle that allow you to use iron sights w/o scope.

OP's post us from a year ago. He's just reporting back on what he ultimately bought.
