Trying to decide on a 10/22...

Now that I've got 5000 rounds of 22lr I've collected over the last couple years, I think it's time to buy something I can shoot it with

Does the 10/22 Takedown model, with a scope, hold a zero very well? I love the idea of being able to fit it into a backpack, but honestly most of the time it'll just sit in my safe, and be a range toy. Something to teach my 6 year old son (and others) how to shoot. Probably not going to shoot it much myself, honestly.

If the Takedown holds a zero ok, it seems like hands down the right answer - but if the non-takedown models are more accurate, by even a little, then that's probably the better choice.

Anyways, with like 50 different models, how do I decide which one to get, considering the above? Price is not really a important - utility will be the deciding factor.

Also, I tried an AR-7, and wasn't really a fan of the enormous, off-centered stock. I love AR-15's chambered in 22lr, but it's to heavy for what I need. So I'm pretty much decided on a 10/22 of some sort, but I'm open to other suggestions that aren't an AR-7

I have a cheap scope on my 10/22. Its almost too accurate to shoot with the cheap one, kind of takes all the fun out of it.

My nephew had one with a bull barrel the other day, that thing was nice.

That one looks very promising, lightweight and adjustable, a good thing since it'll be shot by a variety of people. Top picatinny rail means I can use a particular spare scope that I already own, so that's a bonus. Going to look further into all the suggestions made above, but I'm thinking this collector's series carbine might be my best option. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I purchased the bare bones wood stock model because I knew I would be upgrading - http://www.ruger.com/products/1022Ca...eets/1103.html. I did the following:
1. Trigger - now breaks around 3-4 lbs
2. Bolt hold-open
3. Extended mag release

I can make one ragged hole with 10 rounds at 50 yards all day long. Not sure why you would need the bull barrel unless you're competing. Mine has been an absolute trooper.

Get the cheapest one you can find. You will probably only use the receiver.

Pick a barrel, then a trigger and put it in a stock that you like. Drop a Mueller scope on it and start shooting the flies off meadow muffins.
