Ruger American. Really oily from factory?

Hey guys I just picked up my RAR yesterday and very happy with how sturdy and nice it looks but I noticed that it came packed with oil from the factory I know it's to prevent rust and stuff like that but I feel like they over did it lol. I also took of the bolt and took a look down the barrel and looked like there is some metal shavings from the machining which I know is nothing uncommon. This maybe a noob question to probably all of you on the forum but what is probably the best and safest way to clean the oil off of the rifle? If any one can give me any sort of advice or tips It would help a lot thanks!

Just use the same method you'd use the clean any other rifle.

BreakFree CLP, let her soak, then run a patch or two through from the breech, then more CLP followed by a brass brush, followed by patches. Soak the bolt in CLP, and then blow out with air and wipe down. Wipe down all exposed metal with light coat of CLP, and you are done.

      Then go shoot it.

Thanks jeeper! Doesn't sound to bad, this is my first bolt action so I was just curious on how to do it 😁

What I found works pretty good, is CLP, kitchen paper towels, and a brass jag.

Tight Wet/dry alternating, the wood fibers scour better than cotton.

You will still use quite a few to get the bulk of it out.

The first thing I do is spray my factory new firearms with M-Pro7. I soak the barrel, trigger, barrel - inside and outside, everything. It cleans off all the oil.
Then depending on whether I'm in the mood for mint or cinnamon scent, I use either Froglube or Weaponshield to lube and coat the entire firearm (except for the stock and grip).
