Neighbor kid brought over to show my older brother when we lived in outside of Watsonville. It was the "new" rifle every kid wanted, that was 1959.
I finally picked one up, a Mohawk about 12 years ago, with that tube reloading device they are really neat to plink with! Did realize what a collectable they really are!Comment

I don't see these pop up very often. Very cool and I wish I had one.Comment

Cabelas Reno frequently has several BUT condition and price leaves a bit to be desired. Usually the sheet metal receiver cover is pitted and/or parkerized and they price them at $350, too much for the condition they are in and only in the Mohawk brown, the most common color.Comment

Kyle, definitely recommend you don't sell either. My dad still has his (purchased in 1979) and it's still a great shooter. His is the black. Took her out last year and sent a few hundred rounds downrange with zero issues. Brought home, broke down, and cleaned as much as I could. There was quite a bit of crud in the receiver and ramp.
I gave it back to my dad and asked him when was the last time he cleaned the gun. He said, "I can't ever remember cleaning it." Wow!
If you still want to get rid of it, PM me. I would be interested in making you an offer. I'm over in Brentwood.Comment

Traded an old pocket knife for a well-worn Nylon 66 many moons ago---the thing must have been shot a million rounds---still functioned just fine, but I could not stand the mountain of crud inside the action! Using JB Woods book (pre-computer days), I took it apart---what a nightmare of tiny parts and springs---got it back together and it continued to run just fine! One day, a friend (RIP) told me he and his wife were moving to SW Texas and would I do him the favor of selling him the 66 because it was the only gun his wife could shoot (she was injured in a car crash and had no arm strength)---I reluctantly sold him the little rifle and instantly regretted it---it's still in Texas behind the widows door… I looked around for another 66, but to my surprise, they had become "collector" items and were priced way too high---like $450-600 for a really nice one. I just figured I would never get another one. Then one day, I was at a private range, and an older gentleman offered me a real clean (hardly shot) Mohawk Brown example for a really great price---it will be with me for the rest of my life! So, I say don't sell it!Comment
