    ruger 10/22 target bipod ?

I recently purchased a Ruger 10/22 target and I am interested in using a bipod. Here is the question, I have a couple atlas bipods already and would like to not have to purchase another bipod. Is there any way I can use the atlas bipod with the quick disconnect for rails on my new Ruger ?

You could add a short picatinny rail up front. If you're not planning adding a sling, you could remove the swivel stud to place the rail closer to the fore end tip. If you use a ~3" rail, you could always add a picatinny mounted sling swivel later, if you ever decide you want to add it.

PS. I would use an aluminum accessory rail. Some, like the Magpul, are polymer and don't feel sturdy enough for a bipod (bought one, didn't use it).

Does your stock have a sling stud installed? If so, Weaver makes a swivel stud to picatinny rail adapter for under $20. This is what I use on my 10/22 with my Atlas. Works great.

For whatever reason (cheap?), I think Ruger used a non removable swivel on some of the target models:

If the OP's is just a stud, then the adapter makes the most sense. If it's the combined type, there's still the hacksaw option.

I used one of these when I have my action in a Hogue stock:

The only problem is that the location of the slot makes a very tight fit between the bipod and the knurled attaching bolt. Enough to wear some finish off of the bipod quck release. There are other models with more slots, which I was I would suggest.
