    10/22 on ban list?

Are they really going after semi-auto rimfire also? I'm reading conflicting reports, some say it's only centerfire, others say it's also rimfire.

You can check the 2nd ammendment forums, but I read all semi auto rifles with a detachable mag. 10/22's, M1 Carbine, M1A, Marlin 795 etc.

      Assault Rifes.

While I have not read the entire set of bills, I did not read the words "rimfire" or "centerfire" anywhere in condensed versions or descriptions. I would therefore assume the 10/22 would, if it passes committee, the assembly, senate and gets the governor's signature, be banned.

Do you have proof? What bill is that from?

It clearly states center fire only. If there is something about rim fire could you post it up?

All they have to do is dig a little into recent history to see that Reagan almost died via .22, and they'll start calling .22s worse than centerfire. Of course, most of the lawmakers didn't pass 4th grade US history, so I think we're safe for the time being.

Sorry, fell pray to the email chains and vague summaries. You are correct.

I think I was misinformed by this old post:

                            SB 374:

This bill would, instead, classify a semiautomatic, rimfire or centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept 10 rounds or fewer as an assault weapon. The bill would require a person who, between January 1, 2001, and prior to January 1, 2014, lawfully possessed an assault weapon that does not have a fixed magazine, including those weapons with an ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm with the use of a tool, to register the firearm by July 1, 2014. By expanding the definition of a crime, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.

This bill was vetoed by Jerry Brown after he accepted a petition.
