    22lr Upper Recommendation

    Hi All
As of late I've been finding myself mostly shooting 22 and while I love my M&P 15-22 for an AR-ish platform, I'm really wanting to build from a standard lower with the end goal of a higher quality item, using optics, 18" stainless preferred, heavier weight barrel preferred.

I've Googled the heck out of the forum and after weighing my options, these are the 3 I'm stuck on. Anyone have any opinions one way or the other?

Tactical Solutions AR-22 LT. Only con is I'm really wanting an 18" stainless build however I think the pros will way outweigh that one for me.

Compass Lake: Would be looking at custom work as all their standard configs are over 18"

JP-22: Damn near perfect as is. 18" and Stainless

Model 1: Looks to have what I want (stainless bull) however reviews are leaving me wanting to spend my money elsewhere.

Damn that's 4! I'm leaning towards the JP or TacSol and not sure which way to go.

Thanks all and any input is appreciated!
    Jimmy

Build one. Check out rainier arms 22lr upper. It was on sale for $50. Then grab a bolt... I recommend Taccom, but CMMG is also good. For barrel, I also recommend Taccom, they offer both lightweight and regular barrels. Pick a rail of your choice.

I have a Model 1 22 upper with a 20" barrel. Matched my 18" JP with the Cooley comp. Nice product.
I have seen and shot the JP-22, as you wrote, damn near perfect.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting

Spikes ST-22 Upper? I believe they are no longer made, but if memory serves had read some good things about them....

              I have had 3 AR22 uppers
First was a Spikes upper and lower which ran pretty good but they are no longer made for a reason ......alot of negative reviews
I currently have a JPNC22 and a DPMS upper made off the Nordic bolt and upper
these are IMHO the best uppers you can get
the bolt is more like the 10/22 style bolt than the Ciener style which I think is inherently flawed
both I use for rimfire 2-gun matches and have been very competitive with them against much lighter 10/22 style rifles
almost never have a function issue and will run all standard and high velocity ammo with almost 100% reliability
as for accuracy I have done a test (look for my old posts) and its good bordering on great but not quite 800+USD great which is what the upper costs but it is probably the most accurate AR22 rifle on the market
anyway here are my obligatory money shots of my rifles

                #1 JP-22
                #2 Tactical Solutions AR-22 LT

                When I was looking
I found a deal on a Tactical Solutions AR-22 LT upper and a couple BD mags so that made my decision easier.

I haven't found anything I don't like about the Tactical Solutions AR-22 LT as of yet.

I think I'm going to end up with the JP-22. Just need to sleep on wether a blended timed brake or thread protector model is in my future. Have you found their small profile worth it (relatively speaking)?
Those pics put me over the top and I'll check out you posts[emoji1360]

Curious what scope you running on the JP? I like to do real optics that I'll either trade up to its 223 sibling ill eventually have. For now while I build more funds I'll probably end up using a Trijicon 1.25-4 that's collecting dust or something else in the safe while I get a higher power scope.

Really appreciate the info and nudge over the edge

That is the way I would go. Build using Taccom and CMMG for parts.

Both are great Companies with excellent support and customer service. . Avoid a Spikes. No support whatsoever for their .22 products. Both Taccom and CMMG are in for the long run, and parts and service will be there.

Taccom and the support is there. The owner will talk to you all day he's really passionate about his product.

I searched and settled on CMMG.
My 20" barrel, BCG, and mags are on the way.
Plan on using a Superior Arms lower and the Rousch non-reciprocating side charging upper. Can't wait to get started.

I'm really hoping I can get it done in time for my daughters and I to make the May Appleseed at our local range.

Nice. Got some thinking to do on the glass side.
Called and ordered a JP upper today. They actually had one in the configuration I wanted available (18" blended timed comp). Went from a 6-10 week lead time to "tomorrow"!!
Pretty excited, will make it true with pictures when it arrives.
