Marlin 795 LTR (Appleseed). Anyone have one?

Seems like a decent rifle for the money. http://www.alloutdoor.com/2014/04/07...raining-rifle/

I have one, I just had to do it myself, added tech sights and a sling to a 795. Doesn't have the LTR markings though and the real deal to the LTR was an Appleseed event certificate. The LTR was a Davidson exclusive and I don't believe they have done a run since the original supply sold out.

The factory LTR variant is not readily available.

You can rig up your own easy enough.

The LTR also has a heavier barrel. I think you just sold me on one.

It's still listed on Gallery of Guns but who knows it will be restocked or if Marlin is still making the LTR model.

That said, if its still available I want one.

In the article where it is referenced that "795 has a lightweight plastic stock, and all the weight savings went into the sturdier barrel." they were referencing all 795's, as far as I know the barrel of the LTR is the same, except it does not have the holes in it where the original rear sight was mounted.

I have had a stock watch on Davidson's for the LTR over a year, not one notification.

Funny you posted this. I'm looking for an LTR as well. Found a few on Gunbroker. I didn't know they had different markings though.

Still being made. My FFL ordered it from his distributor and it came a couple of days later. Didn't have the certificate for Appleseed, but a quick call to Marlin customer service had one in the mail the next day.

The notch for the rear sight is there, but they rotated the barrel so that the notch is on the bottom and not seen until removed from the stock.

Interesting. Did you call and ask for one and Marlin just sent it out? If so, that is awesome CS.

FFL checked his various distributors and one of them had them in stock. Icing on the cake was they were on sale too from the distributor. It wasn't Marlin direct and it wasn't Davidson.

I've never heard that the LTR has a heavier barrel then a normal 795... I kind of doubt it since it would need the same profile for the front tech sight to fit... unless they did a special run of the sights for the LTR

I'll try to remember to take some pics after work if there is any interest. I have mine apart right now waiting for the Boyd's stock to finish drying. Got the pro varmint for it and opened up the barrel channel just a bit, but enough that I needed to repaint it.
