    Whatever happened to 17H2 ?

Seemed like a good idea, a cartridge a little smaller and cheaper than HMR17 but still better than a 22. Is it dead ?

Good question. I haven't seen .17 HM2 ammo in ages.

I fear it's fallen into the dustbin of forgotten cartridges.

It is a walking dead cartridge. It never had the success of the 17 HMR. Kind of a pointless round and expensive compared to the .22

Just noted they have a new run of them but I don't know the cost. The bullet is a spitzer type which is much better than the 22

It looks like they will be doing runs once, or twice a year. But, the prices have been around $9.00 a box. Almost double what it was when it came out.

It's still a blast to shoot, even at that price. I just picked up #20 boxes of the last run, so I'm set for a bit.

It's too bad, I really liked it. Mine was wicked accurate out to about 150 yards. But once prices rivaled or passed 17HMR I gave up.

How much does it cost in comparison to 17 HMR ? I have a friend who wants to sell me a bolt action Martin in 17 HMR . I have always shot 22 LR so the question is what is a good price for HMR and HM2 ?
