    Anshutz 1614HB?

I handled this Anshutz today. What a beauty! In 22 LR. The trigger is heaven and the wood....just amazing. I also looked at the Cz 455 Varmint in .22 and the 455 Combo. Wood was ok and both had great triggers. Kinda wish I had not seen the Anshutz. I was told they both shoot accurate.
So is the Anshutz worth $1200 which is 2x more than the Cz?

I am not shooting competition. I just want a real nice bolt .22. There is probably no help for me here, but please try and give me some info.

The CZ will be more accurate than you for a long while if you aren't going for competition shooting. Invest the $ difference in some optics and plenty of ammo.

CZ is a great gun. I do love my 1517 Anshutz and wouldn't give it up. The only really crappy thing is anshutz mags are 4 round and they are expensive like $45 for a magazine.

Find a used Anshutz model 54 for $300 like I just did, and you'll be happy.

I purchased a 1416 with double set triggers new when I lived in Germany. I've had the rifle for 37 years and it is still incredibly accurate and has never had a mechanical problem of any kind. Still using the same 5 round magazine that came with the rifle so many years ago.

The Anschutz is a fundamentally more accurate rifle.

The Anschutz versus an optioned-out, rebarreled CZ is awfully close. I'd probably still go Anschutz if national pride was at stake.

For plinking, informal competition, and ammo other than Wolf or Eley Match, the CZ will do the job and save you enough money to buy whatever glass you want in the process.

I went with CZ. But I'm not competing either, and my rifles wind up in the mud and rain pretty often. Different tools for different jobs.

              ><

I think its overpriced @1200...here is one at one of the Cabela's stores. Cabelas is useually on the high end to start, but will take offers on their used guns.

              So lets say 799+ 40 shipping + 68 tax + 75 FFL fees = $982.00 in hand

And...I go with Anschutz and recommend the same to you

Its not the rifle that is the expensive part, its the match ammo. Wolf MT/SK is good stuff at .10 but Eley Match or Tenex is $$$$.

Ain't that the truth. Someone should come up with a formula like the jewelry stores try to tell you when you buy an engagement ring. e.g. Spend as much on your rifle as you would spend on a ammo during a dozen range trips.

I bought the Cz 455 combo. But then a guy in Ohio sent me a picture of an Anschutz 1416 with tiger striped wood. It included rings. About 15 years old. Pristine. I bought it. Could not help myself. Just got it at my FFLs today. Wow, what a beautiful rifle. Now the horrible 10 day waiting period.
Now...what scope to put on it.
