    Cz455 Varmit heavy barrel

I wanted to get a nice bolt 22. Just for paper. I have several 10/22. I was hearing good things about the CZ455. I see they make a bull barrel Varmit one. Would that be better than the 455 lux? I'll put a scope on it. I also like the manlicher stock, but no one seems to have those.
Please give me some idea on what Cz would be good for me. Or do you have another recommendation?

I settled on a CZ 452 Varmint, having seen just about every flavor of .22 on my line at Appleseed.

With the bull-barrel, it is a heavy rifle. Mine (with scope) is about a pound lighter than my M1 Garand -- and the CZ has a longer length of pull. However that's what I wanted in a trainer.

The Lux has the hogback stock. Some love it and some don't. I'm in the "don't" category -- I much prefer the straight comb of the Varmint or American. If I took more shots from standing position my opinion might be different.

Lux as well as some other models have longer barrels than the Varmint. This does not improve accuracy or velocity. In the case of the Ultra Lux or Training models, the much longer barrel actually amplifies trigger errors, on purpose.

Lux comes with decent leaf-type iron sights. Varmint comes with no sights. Since you plan to scope it, this is a wash.

There are also aftermarket stocks. Or you can look for the Tacticool or Evolution models with their space-age but functional styling. I'm perfectly happy with old-school.

It's a good rifle. Lots of other good choices out there these days, but if this one fits you I doubt you'll be disappointed. I have a couple of students at Appleseed that specifically request my 452 Varmint as a loaner, and both have earned their patches behind its trigger.

I went and handled a 455 Varmint. Pretty nice trigger. I liked it. Then I went in the other room and picked up an Anshutz 1416 HB. Holy cow! What an awesome rifle. The wood was beautiful. But at 3x the price of the Cz.......I don't know now

Several months ago Discount Gunmart in Santee had a man-licker stocked 455. Give them a call.

Go look at the old rimfire monthly match results to see what this laser gun can do
