    HK A5 vs gsg522 (converted)

Alright, the hk is still in jail, but I plan on putting these puppies head to head for the next year. I got to take the gsg home today (not a big5 gsg). So far, I can say the retractable stock is solid and not loose as hell. All of the gsg's I handled at big5 had very loose stocks. I did pay a bit more than most places, $309, but not terribly over priced.

So, down to brass tacks. First impressions, I love the light weight, super easy to handle. The sights suck, not liking them at all! I'll definitely be updating the gun with the gsg5 conversion kit to get the old style sights.

    Any recommendations or advice appreciated!

Six more days for the hk... waiting sucks

If anyone is trying to decide between these two, some observations:
    1) the gsg has two addition points to lock the retractable stock, again better for smaller shooters (kids and my little wife)
    2) the gsg does come with a top rail to strap on your favorite flavor of optic, but other reviews I've read don't put much faith in it. I'll test it out soon enough
    3) big5 stocks the hk magazines so bonus there because I've never seen any place stock the gsg mags

    To be continued

Yeah, I have the hk home, totally screwed for time, super pissed I didn't even have the time for a quick range time while on vacation. And now back to the grind... should have some more time tomorrow. And an interesting story to boot. Tbc

I picked up one of them Big5 .22LRHK's last week as well, time to go yank a sack of oranges from the dude on the corner and make them dance with some CCI I scored from the fat lady at Walmart.

I dont mean to hi-jack this thread or anything but how are you guys storing this gun? Cocked or decocked, If decocked how are you guys decocking it (snapcap, spent case, plastic drywall anchors)?

Took a swing on your other thread there, chief. Peep it out.

My gsg came with a snap cap so I use that

I was just checking out my hk and noticed a cut or a possible crack where the extractor pin sits on the barrel side of the gun when the bolt is forward. Can you guys check if you have the same cut/crack?

                              Here's mine

I have about 2500+ rounds though this thing now. I dry fire to decock. Cleaned after every visit to the range. This thing is as reliable as my Glock.

How many rounds have you shot?
