Hi all, I've been thinking about getting myself a NAA mini LR but am wondering, those of you who have shot them, are quick follow up shots a possibility with a two handed grip or does the mini move in your hand with the recoil so much that you have to reposition the mini in your hand before each shot?

Fast Firing a NAA Mini LR

With the .22LR sized frame and the standard wood grips, shorts won't move at all, std. velocity LR moves a bit, .22LR Stinger almost jumps out of the hand and requires a re-grip.
The Magnum sized frame with the larger grip is a far better shooter and not that much bigger.
I sold my LR frame version and got the Magnum size.
FYI:
Back in the day we shot at glass bottles some times.
I shot my mini at a coca cola bottle from about 15 feet away with different rounds.
.22 short round nose lead bounced off the bottle and landed back at my feet.
.22LR std velocity cracked the bottle and knocked it over.
.22 Stinger turned the bottle into a shower of glass.
So, for self defense, you really need to go with a Stinger or something similar to get things going.
But the Stinger jumps out of the hand, making for a very slow second shot.
Move to the Magnum frame and round, much more effective and much more controllable.Last edited by ojisan; 12-14-2015, 4:16 PM.

I can SAFELY draw and get two shots to hit a B27 target at 15 yards in under 5 seconds. While that's not "fast", it is fast enough for me.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Thanks for the info, this is exactly what I wanted to know before buying the NAA mini LR as my primary CCW piece. May I ask what type of standard velocity LR you typically use? Also, you mention that with standard LR it moves a bit, does it move enough to require a re-grip as well? With the .22LR sized frame and the standard wood grips, shorts won't move at all, std. velocity LR moves a bit, .22LR Stinger almost jumps out of the hand and requires a re-grip.

find something better
The truth about little mini guns is they are there to carry forever but hopefully never have to use. Im the king of wanting everything and never listened to what anyone else said when it came to reason. Lets just say that you are more likely to hurt yourself with one of these than anyone else. There are people that can do well with these , but to me they are only any good at slow deliberate point blank shots. A good follow up shot is possible but unlikely . The hammer takes a good amount of force to cock , and the trigger is also very stiff. used to be there were many gunstores that had a good selection of used guns at a reasonable price. I suggest something a little bigger that has a bigger grip. Again i know i cant talk anyone out of anything , but skip fanning the hammer you will shoot yourself in the hand or me at the line on the range next to you. Small snubby is a much better choice.Comment

Gun1: Usually CCI Mini-mags for reliability in a standard velocity load.
The more potent the round, the more it moves in the hand.
Also depends on your hand shape.
Also consider the optional rubber grips.

The .22lr mini will want to jump out of your hand with a decent load. Even with CB caps you aren't going to shoot "fast", it's not the nature of the beast. While I like my .22lr mini the .22 mag is much better for shoot-ability. I have the .22lr/.22mag Earl in 3". It is much more accurate and controllable then the lr.
If you really want the .22lr I would suggest the folding grip. I have one. You will be able to shoot faster and won't have the gun jump like standard grips. I had never thought of fanning one before. I just checked. Yes you can fan them if you could hold on to it.Comment

. Can you fan the hammer on the mini though, or will it get stuck because of the half cock?
