    FTF Marlin/Glenfield

I have an older model Marlin/Glenfield 60 that out of every 15 round magazine, I will get about 5-6 fail to fire, just clicks. I clean and lube and still about after around 100 rounds the same thing happens. I've tried different brands of ammo to no avail. Any ideas?

I have a model 70 that does the same thing. I haven't taken it apart yet to try and figure it out.

    Maybe somebody has an explanation.

There is a lot of info on Rimfire central. I have 2 of the older versions (Glenfield) and, luckily, not had this issue. I pour Eezox in the chamber if I haven't shot them in a few months.

Good luck and post if you can. I use Federal exclusively since they are plated and inexpensive.
I have had issues with lead nose Remington.

It's not too difficult to take it down. Here is a link I used to work on mine. It might just need a good cleaning.

          60

post a picture of a fired round showing firing pin dent on rim
some of the older rimfires get a mushed firing pin where it hits the cartridge rim
too wide to fire the round
sometimes it can be dressed down to function normally again
          or replace
pretty simple to r+r remove a single crosspin

            Maybe I'll try that. Thanks.

check the firing pin chamber and make sure there isn't a build up of junk.

Take the bolt out and REPLACE the firing pin. While you got it apart it easy to do the extractors. I'd also polish the bolt. I done all this to my 4 60's and they shoot flawlessly. And, can take ANY ammo.

You can get the parts at Numrich, Brownells or MidwayUSA

I have a 981T that I've had numerous FTF's. The rifle is clean, & lubed,. I have replaced the firing pin, springs, all with no results. Ammo selection makes no difference. ANY IDEAS, SUGGESTIONS, HELP. This rifle has sentimental value for my youngest. THANKS....

I would send it in to Remlin for service.

do you dry fire it? check the face of the chamber.

dry firing can dent the face of the chamber so the firing pin will not strike hard enough to dent the rim deeply enough to cause ignition.

the only way, i know of, to correct that situation is to replace the firing pin with one that's been peened to be longer.

I had ArrowDodger's KAT [Kick A** Trigger] installed in my 1975 Model 60, and had the Last Shot Hold Open feature added at that time.

This required a new feed throat conversion kit, with new bolt- which I had installed 10 years earlier.

I bring this up because the LSHO will avoid mushroomed firing pins, and the KAT brings the trigger to a long-ish but LIGHT and CRISP 2# trigger. It is a dream to shoot now.
