    KEY HOLEING MOSSY

    Hi All,

My first rifle as a kid was a US property marked M44, that my dad got me out of the base surplus for 5 bucks.

In searching for a replacement (for 50 years) I've not run across one that was a good buy. Recently I came across a 144LSB at my LGS. While looking it over, I found where someone "etched" on the forearm "key holes CCI". You had to get the right light to see it.

That didn't make sense to me. Have any of you ever heard of such a thing? I have a few .22s, and I've not seen that happening.

It's either a Routledge Bore, (highly unlikely) or it has a buggered crown.
